Game Week 8

The season is really into its groove now. Its already GW8 but what’s been happening? VAR!!!, Which players should I target? Its at this point I should say I’m doing terrible.

Summary

Top level summary after 7 games. Bournemouth & Sheff Utd still to win a game. Watkins sitting on top of the best points return, 1 point ahead of Haland and has scored 4 goals less.

Form guide

I’m back to using my form guide which has helped me in previous seasons. Now this is form over the last four games.

Son is No1 after a couple of double digit hauls and he has Luton this week. Trippier has had a great couple of weeks a hattrick of assists in one game has put him in No2 position. Watkins with the hattrick sits at No3. The City pair of Haland and Alvarez sits at 4 & 5.

With Son in good form how does it compare to previous seasons? Its his second best start to a season in the last 6 seasons.

Transfers

Villa players are doing well, If we look at Watkins & Cash we can see a hefty jump in ownership.

One of the stalwarts of the first seven games was Estupinan but due to an injury he is losing ownership. He is actually down to 51% now.

Teams to target

So which teams should we target to get the most points from?

Sheff Utd seem to leak the most FPL points. 413 so far and 119 in one game against Newcastle. From a single players perspective Brighton conceded 23 FPL points and Watkins with the hattrick was the one that did the damage. Maybe Salah could do something similar this week.

Pick of the games

Arsenal v Man City – Title decider already?

Man Utd v Brentford – Both need a win.

Everton v Bournemouth – Relegation battle already?

The AI challenge

So once again I asked AI for some answers to GW8

Question – Best players to pick for GW8 2023 in FPL

Answer –

Here are some of the best players to pick for Gameweek 8 in FPL 2023:

  1. Pedro Porro (£5.0m) – Spurs: Pedro Porro is having a good season for Spurs to date, with two assists from an Expected Assists (xA) of 0.72 and an Expected Goals (xG) of 0.421He has started the last six games, and seems to have the right-back spot nailed1.
  2. James Maddison (£7.8m) – Spurs: James Maddison has two goals and four assists this season, with an xG of 1.9 and an xA of 2.48 (third overall)1Maddison has been playing with a lot of freedom through the middle in this team, and will no doubt continue to score and create many goals1.
  3. Son Heung-min (£9.1m) – Spurs: Son Heung-min now has six goals in his last four league games, and continues to play and thrive in the number nine position1He has an xG of 2.9 and an xA of 1.37, and it looks like the position of centre forward is his to lose now1.
  4. Ollie Watkins (£8.0m) – Aston Villa: Ollie Watkins is another player to consider2Aston Villa sit top of our Season Ticker from Gameweeks 8-14, with five matches against sides currently ranked 12th or below in the Premier League table2.
  5. Moussa Diaby (£6.7m) – Aston Villa: Moussa Diaby is also a good pick from Aston Villa2However, he is currently an injury doubt so be mindful of that3.

Remember, these are just suggestions and the final decision should be based on your judgement and understanding of the game. Good luck!

Hope you have a good GW8 and lets see what’s happens.
